My Hemogram Update

November 6, 2017, I made my trip to a hematologist, for my scheduled hemogram.  After a few minutes of wait time, I was called to a lab, for blood work; they took my blood pressure, and then drew blood from my arm, that lasted a couple of minutes.  Afterwards, my arm was bandage, and returned to the waiting room to be seen by the doctor.

I was then, called to the office, by one of the nurses, and was told the doctor will be with me shortly.  So I waited in the doctor’s office for several minutes, and she arrived and greeted me.  Shortly after, we were discussing our test results, which was my hemoglobin, RBC, RDW, and PLT.  My hemoglobin level was 15.6 out of 18.00 (not bad), my RBC at 5.0 out of 6.0, RDW at 13.5 out of 13.7 and my platelets (PLT)  are at 208 out of 450.  Two days later, I received my full test results, and I was so happy, as to what I saw.

My iron was at 103ug/dl out of 160, ferritin at 78ng /ml out of 120, iron binding capacity at 320ug/dl out of 512, iron saturation at 32.2%, UIBC 217ug/dl out of 300.  This is a big improvement from all my previous results, in my prior blogs, I mentioned that I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia, where my hemoglobin was below 10 and my iron was very low as well as my ferritin.  I, at the time was sick, suffering from fatigue, shortness of breath and hair loss, etc. my goal right now, is to bring my ferritin to at least 100ng/ml for optimal thyroid function; recently, I’ve been experiencing shedding of gray hairs, and feeling more energetic, where I was taking two hour walks and not feeling tired.  I lift a lot of heavy objects, including weights when I am not n the gym, I am full of strength.

That’s all I have to say about my recent update, thanks for stopping by.....deuces!
